Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) are man- made chemicals that are often referred to as "forever chemicals" because they do not break down in the environment and can accumulate in the body. They are also mobile, which means that they can be transported in the environment to areas far from where they were initially used or created. We tested for 34 PFAS in our study.
